Pat and “The Hillbilly Cat"

I needed to give back to this animal in a way that would repay any bad karma I may have accumulated in the past concerning cats. So I came home with this magnificent creature that looked and acted like a wild cat - like a puma, really. We named him "Kumba" (pronounced Koomba).

Evolving Can Give You the Shivers

Why are we here? That is the big question, is it not? I've been told by a wise friend that we are here to learn. In other words, life's journey is meant to be one long lesson, where hopefully, we evolve over the course of that journey. This story is about looking back in hindsight, reflecting, awakening, and evolving.

Elvis, Me, and Sascha

"Dad, it was such a good movie…" We talked a bit, and he added, "Dad, this is the best movie I have ever seen," as we continued crying together. He added, "I'm in shock. I'm in shock. I don't know what to say. I've never experienced something like this before". Imagine a 22-year-old millennial who was, until waking into this theatre, relatively unfamiliar with the Elvis phenomenon having such an epiphany.

Confessions of a French Canadian

I've always considered myself fluent in both languages, but there is fluent, and then there is fluent! In Québec, for those who live here, you know that spoken French can vary enormously, depending on region, education, and many other factors. I believe I fall in the middle to upper class because of how well and easily I can express myself in French.

Being Invisible

I'm the guy who looks like he doesn't belong here. I look too young to have moved into what is essentially a retirement residence. I don't know if I am the youngest resident in the complex, but I have turned heads many times when walking through the dining room, especially when sporting just my swim attire! I've also participated in the "sit-n’-fit" classes, where again, I stick out like a sore thumb and look like I could perhaps even teach the class. I appear young and healthy; however, as the old saying goes, "appearances can be deceiving."
